Trump Calls Relatives of Attacked Guard Members to White House

President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He mentioned that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Devastating Incident

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.

White House Call

The commander-in-chief stated he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president told reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Support

Mourners gathered over the past few days at a local school in the state to remember Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to support policing efforts in the capital.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“Sarah was the individual that teachers wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the media. “She was kind, caring and always eager to support those in need.”

Service plans for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Measures and Government Revisions

Officials have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The tragedy led the Trump administration to suspend asylum applications and cease providing entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor the governor stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed the program that she planned to visit his relatives.

Impact of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, according to the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had courage,” he addressed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
