The 22-year-old tennis player Emma Raducanu wraps up this year's campaign and has decided to continue with trainer into the 2026 season.
Raducanu made it to the third stage in three out of four major tournaments during the season.
The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from the last two tournaments of the year due to a health issue she has been battling over the past 10 days.
Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to regain her health prior to beginning next year's training.
Her upcoming training are set to feature her coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.
She had her blood pressure taken in her opening round against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and withdrew when behind 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.
Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the final set in the match with Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.
Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 for the first time since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.
Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in the third stage in the Beijing tournament last month.
The player achieved 28 matches during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.
The British number one reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed en route prior to a loss in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.
She worked with trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.
The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was through the season's conclusion but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions late this year.
She mentioned that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.
She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.
Roig joined her in New York, where she made the third stage prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
