Seaside town attacker's brother feared he would kill, inquiry told
The older brother of the Seaside town killer said his mother and father "lost control" of their child and he was concerned his younger sibling would kill a member of their household, a official investigation has been told.
Axel Rudakubana, a teenager, fatally attacked three youngsters at a celebrity-themed dance workshop on July 29, 2024.
The official investigation, sitting at the venue, learned the family member Dion Rudakubana warned a acquaintance there was a possibility of his relative "committing an act deadly."
The investigation was told the brother told his contact over the digital service: "The fights are terrifying because of the threat of a fatality."
The sibling stated his relative reminded him of the violent character in the picture the thriller.
Increasing Conflict
Proceedings heard the brother was diagnosed with a medical condition at the twelve years old which caused him needing mobility assistance and his parents offering greater support.
In response to Richard Boyle, counsel to the inquiry, if that altered their dynamic he replied: "There was tension that emerged."
Dion acknowledged his sibling seemed to dislike this change.
He told the inquiry that after the relatives moved from the Welsh capital to their new location his relative's behavior worsened and he would have "violent outbursts."
Proceedings was informed he became "progressively concerned" of his sibling, who would physically assault him frequently.
He stated: "I needed to be careful if I tried to communicate to him because each conflict could turn into an altercation."
'Genuine concerns'
He testified his relative became much more aggressive after he was dismissed from Range High School in Formby, Merseyside, in that period.
The sibling went to college in the following period and the two spoke less and less "as he was unaccustomed to having me around."
The hearing was made aware of a communication he messaged a contact on Discord in which he mentioned his sibling was angered by him speaking late at night because of the thin walls in their home.
He further revealed to his contact there was a danger of "him taking action that could kill."
He wrote: "Arguments are frightening because of the risk of someone dying."
Mr Boyle inquired: "You were genuinely concerned that your sibling would murder a person of your relatives?"
He replied: "Should situations worsen to that point."
Mr Boyle inquired how his parents dealt with the perpetrator's aggression.
"There was no point to try and punish him," he said. "Moreover, there was a significant danger in doing so.
"We discussed there was a general risk to life in casual discussion, if you attempt to challenge him... it would not end well."
When Mr Boyle asked if his family had failed to manage of his relative, Dion agreed.
When asked about his relative being similar to a figure from the film the Coen brothers film, he explained: "I heard that character's intended as a sociopath and that's why I employed that term there."
Dion revealed the previous encounter he had with his sibling was in the 2023 summer.
He stated that their parents told the attacker to say goodbye to him as he was departing to visit his associates and his sibling threw a bottle at him but the entryway shut before it struck.
