Jennifer Lawrence States Mentioning Trump Would ‘Intensify Divisions’ Dividing the Nation Apart
Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she believes it's no longer fitting to speak out countering the Trump presidency, concerned it could worsen unhelpful debate and increase separation throughout the United States.
‘I Don’t Really Know If I Should’, Notes Jennifer Lawrence
In a recent interview, she commented, “When Trump was first in office, I thought I was acting frantically like a chicken with my head cut off. But as we’ve learned, over multiple voting cycles, public figures have no real impact whatsoever on voter decisions.”
She continued, “So then what am I doing? I’m just voicing my thoughts on something that’s going to worsen tensions dividing the nation apart.”
Changing Allegiances
The actress has admitted freely about backing conservative and liberal contenders throughout her life. Raised by conservative Republicans in her home state, she cast her ballot for John McCain in the 2008 election prior to switching to the Democrats and revealing she recognized during the Obama era that backing conservatives was opposing her own rights as a female citizen.
Earlier Remarks
Several years ago, she commented that a Trump victory could represent “a catastrophic event” and publicly supported the Democratic candidate in the 2020 election. In the latest campaign, she lent her support to the Democratic nominee, “as I feel she’s an excellent choice and I trust that she will do whatever she can to protect women’s health rights.”
Celebrity Views
Jennifer Lawrence was joined by many in the entertainment industry in her disapproval of the former president as a presidential contender, but the lack of leverage celebrities have over the voting intentions was underscored by the outcome.
“Another four years seems distinct,” commented Lawrence of his administration. “Since he stated his intentions. We were aware of his actions for four years. He was very clear. And that’s what we chose.”
New Release
Jennifer Lawrence is highlighting Die, My Love, the filmmaker’s drama in which she plays a young mom who struggles with her mental health in rural Montana. Speaking at a media event for the project in the film festival, she addressed the situation in the Middle East: “I feel fear. It’s mortifying. What’s occurring is no less than a genocide and it’s horrible.”
Wider Issues
The actress elaborated by stating that she was saddened by “the lack of civility in the discussions of American politics right now and how that is going to be accepted to the kids now. It’s going to be standard to them that politicians lie.”
She attempted to refocus anger about the situation to leaders rather than entertainers. “Keep attention on those accountable,” she remarked, which was interpreted as a reference to the then-recent pledge endorsed by more than 4,000 entertainment industry figures to refuse engagement with certain cultural organizations.
Individual Insights
Lawrence, who received an Academy Award at a young age for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, is receiving praise for her work in her latest project. Although Ramsay has disputed the plot being seen as one of maternal mental health issues and psychological distress, she shared that she did relate to parts of her film narrative after the birth of her new baby, not long after production wrapped.
“There was concern regarding my baby,” she explained, “imagining every potential danger, and then questioning everything that I was trying. I was seeing a therapist, but I began using a drug called that medicine and I continued it for a short period and it really helped.”
Film Challenges
The actor also spoke regarding the freeing requirement of filming without clothes in the film while she was some months pregnant and limited physically.
“It feels nice,” she remarked, regarding the need to abandon insecurities. “I mean, I sometimes think where I’m like, What separates me between me and a prostitute? But it isn’t a major concern.”
