Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
