Eulogies Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the duo.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt ready to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced spending more time together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he could not remember "a single day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a different piece, revered director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge ruled to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate put a security hold on the cases to limit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the result of murder, with a record listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
In the wake of the killings, public personalities offered varying reactions.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing controversial claims that were broadly criticized by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the detractors last week. Conversing on his program, Rogan labeled the statements as "disappointing" and remarked they demonstrated a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an aide ought to have acted when the impulse to comment on the tragedy was made.
