Aston Villa against Forest: Premier League Build-Up

Introduction

Welcome everyone to this Premier League fixture between Villa and Forest. The home side are the favourites to win in this early kick-off as they are flying this season and are currently occupying third place, while Nottingham Forest are seventeenth and just four points outside of the drop zone.

Pre-Match Quotes

Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche has said on his counterpart today:

"He has done a fantastic job as a manager there. Their transfer business has been good - spent a lot of money, to be fair, on some very good players and they’ve shaped it into a cohesive team, so certainly a tough game.

We’ve just shown lately, we’ve played against some of the larger clubs, or the ones that are favoured every year, and performed admirably against them - and a couple of teams maybe not as highly-rated, we haven't performed as strongly against them. That’s likely the test of the group - rising to the expectation of each game rather than just the big games."

Squad News

Harvey Elliott has no future at Aston Villa, news that was stated by the manager Unai Emery in the build-up to this match. The boss said:

"We respect him all we can because he’s a excellent professional, very dedicated. The problem we have with Harvey is this year he is on loan and if he is playing matches, we are obligated to buy him. We decided two months ago we are not persuaded to sign him, spending the money we need."

Form Guide

How times change. This time last year Forest were third in the table, where Villa are now. A lot of things have changed, including the manager on two occasions and the current boss is charged with keeping the club in the Premier League this season. Since being appointed on 21 October, Dyche has won 10 Premier League points and the side are just above the relegation zone with 19 games of the season remaining.
